what does 9=8 mean??
Karen - thanks for asking. I wrote about it in the first posting (link below, FYI). Basically, it is the mantra/rallying cry for the Rays 2008 season. It means 9 guys playing hard for 9 innings will equal 1 of 8 spots in the playoffs. Joe Maddon has emphasized teamwork in a big way this year and this is his way of illustrating it (9=8). He even made T-shirts for the team with the logo on it (see link below).
